Berkley North Pacific — a Berkley Company and a PIA Western Alliance member — has been named one of the best places to work in insurance in the country. The PIA Western Alliance congratulates the company on this prestigious award.
It is given in the annual Best Places to Work in Insurance program done every year by Business Insurance.
If you’re not familiar with Berkley North Pacific (BNP), it is a regional, commercial property and casualty insurance provider and offers underwriting, claims, and risk management services through independent agents in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Utah.
The home office is in Seattle. Branch offices are located in Portland, Oregon, Meridian, Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah.
The company prides itself on being a solution-oriented business. BNP provides services for a large variety of standard businesses and for specialty organizations such as agribusiness and construction.
The Business Insurance award “recognizes employers for their outstanding performance in establishing workplaces where employees can thrive, enjoy their work and help their companies grow.”
This is the fifth year in a row that BNP has received the award and Vice President of Human Resources Jan Whiting said, “We are proud to receive this recognition again for 2017. Our team is full of talented people who really strive to make BNP an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.”

The Best Places to Work in Insurance program has two parts. It quizzes employers on company policies, practices and demographics. Then it asks employees confidential questions on engagement and satisfaction.
The program the divides employers into the categories of:
• Small, 25-249 employees
• Medium, 250-999 employees
• Large, 1,000 or more employees
This year’s report features 75 companies of various sizes, from 25 employees to more than 4,000.
