Several sources — including the National Interagency Fire Center — have noted more than 8 million acres have burned in wildfires this year. So far. The fire season is not quite over. Some say these drought days it never ends, it has turned into a continuum.
Most of the losses are in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana and the five states are still battling huge blazes. The losses are a big impact for insurers and as more homes and businesses are built in the border between wilderness and civilization, the concern grows.
Business Insurance did a six-part study on natural disasters and wildfire is the first of the six. It outlines insurance concerns and what might be done to help prevent disaster. Considering the huge losses in the West, the video bears sharing.
