Oregon 2023 Legislative Bill List
Click here for PIAO/I’s list of 2023 Oregon legislative bills that were pre-session filed. Our Government Relations Committee considered the list earlier this week. Most of them are to be monitored only, but those we oppose are highlighted.
Several bills are “placeholder bill”, meaning that the bill has been filed with the specific intention of changing it later. For example, we expect a bill from DCBS requiring insurers to offer credits for fire hardening of homes, but they are still negotiating it with insurers and consumer groups.
You can find all the pre-session filed bills on the Oregon Legislative website, Oregon State Legislature. There will be a lot more bills introduced in the days to come.
It is important that you know who your state senator and state representative are in the districts where you live and also where you work. You can find out by completing the online form at 2023 Find Your Legislator (arcgis.com). Please let me know who your legislators are via email at lanab@teleport.com. Speaking of in person, while the Capitol will be open this session, it is undergoing major construction, so access and space are very limited. You can always watch hearings online and testify that way, too. You must sign up to testify in advance, so be sure to read Citizen Engagement How to Testify (oregonlegislature.gov) and the requirements on the various committee pages on the legislative website.
