The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) said the number of auto thefts has gone up since COVID hit in 2020 and it’s gone up a lot. Group CEO, David Glawe said a vehicle is stolen every 32 seconds in this country.
That adds up to over one million vehicles stolen in 2022.
“Vehicle theft disrupts lives, causes financial hardship, and undermines community safety,” Glawe said. “Addressing this problem is not just the responsibility of law enforcement agencies; it requires a partnership between vehicle owners, community members, as well as federal, state, and local governments.”
