Insurance Tops Super Bowl Commercials — State Farm & Schwarzenegger Score Big Time

Every year USA TODAY monitors Super Bowl ads. Insurance topped them all in the 2024 game. That’s the conclusion of USA TODAY’s Ad Meter competition. Here are the top five best and their ratings 0 to 10:

1. State Farm

“Like a Good Neighbaaa”

2. Dunkin’

“The DunKings”

3. Kia

“Perfect 10 | The Kia EV9”

4. Uber Eats

“Worth Remembering”

5. NFL

“Born to Play”

Variety magazine said Schwarzenegger signed on to do the commercial because he thinks State Farm performs a public service. That’s a nice compliment to the importance of captive insurance company, its agents and the independent insurance agent in today’s world.

“They’re here for the people and the community,” Schwarzenegger said of State Farm and insurance. As to the commercial, he said, “And it’s also very entertaining. It’s the making of an action movie. I saw all the action sequences — blowing up the house, the helicopter, and all this crazy stuff — and I said, ‘This is perfect.’ We laughed the whole time. That is how I kind of pick those things.”

In case you missed it, or in case you want to see it again, this is the extended version of the commercial. It’s hilarious and well worth a view:

By the way, CBS charged an average of $7 million per 30 second commercial in this year’s game. The State Farm commercial runs 15 seconds shy of two minutes. So, no doubt, this one cost much more.

Apparently, it’s an investment that has paid off.
