Nevada’s Department of Business and Industry Director Terry Reynolds has named Scott Kipper as Nevada’s new Insurance Commissioner. It’s the third time Kipper has held that position.
Kipper’s first stint in the role was from 2008 to 2010 and he did it again from 2011 to 2015.
He also has a connection to other PIA Western Alliance states. Kipper takes on the Nevada post after serving as the deputy director of operations for the Washington Department of Insurance. He was also the Insurance Administrator in Oregon just before accepting the insurance commissioner job in 2008.
Reynolds is pleased with the amount of experience Kipper brings to the job.
“With Scott’s extensive experience in insurance regulation, legislative expertise, and management; along with familiarity of the insurance landscape in Nevada, he will hit the ground running,” Reynolds said. “We welcome him back to the division to continue the important work of protecting consumers and ensuring the health of the insurance industry in Nevada.”
He is replacing Barbara Richardson who recently resigned. She has been the state’s insurance department head since 2016.
