One for the Books — 5 of 9 PIA Western Alliance States have the Nation’s Lowest Homeowners Rates

 

Infurify tracks all things insurance. A recent report looked at homeowners insurance rates. That report found the average homeowners policy in the U.S. is $1,211 per year. The average value of homes in America is $265,712.90.

Homeowners in five of the nine PIA Western Alliance states — Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona — pay the lowest homeowners insurance rates in the country. The highest rates are in Louisiana, Florida and Texas. Louisiana’s average is $1,968 per year. Floridians pay $1,951 and in Texas the average annual rate is $1,893.

Those very high rates are due to those quite expensive natural disasters like hurricanes. Flooding is also a problem in all three states.

Here are the 10 states with the lowest homeowners insurance rates. The PIA Western Alliance states are listed first with what number they are in the top-10:

4. Nevada

Average annual homeowners insurance premium — $755

Median home value — $310,471

 

6. Arizona

Average annual homeowners insurance premium — $825

Median home value — $285,574

 

8. Washington

Average annual homeowners insurance premium — $854

Median home value — $434,168
