PIA Oregon’s Agent and Company Person of the Year

Lauren Olson, Agent of the Year with Rich Biggs

Lauren Olson, the Senior Commercial Lines Account Manager of Cascade Insurance Center in Bend is PIA Oregon’s 2024 agent of the year.

The agent of the year award is the PIA way of saying thank you and recognizing that special individual whose accomplishments exemplify the best qualities an independent insurance agent can possess: integrity, dedication and commitment to the members and goals of the PIA. As an organization, we offer no greater recognition than the PIA Agent of the Year.

Lauren came into the insurance business via managing restaurants. We’re not sure how they connect but upon moving from California to Bend, Oregon, Lauren went to work for her father, Patrick O’Keefe.

Randy Carlton, who used to own part of Cascade Insurance Center, told Weekly Industry news that he was incredibly impressed with her ability to quickly master the art of insurance.

“She is extremely knowledgeable, goes out of her way to find the correct solution, and is willing to take on any challenge. I can tell you that she is fearless. With little, or no experience, she would take a call from a commercial account with a problem, not know anything, make all the calls needed and jump in with both feet to solve their problem. In my 40 years experience, I have rarely seen this level of dedication. If I was starting an agency and could take one person with me, I’d take her.”

She’s now running the company where the staff loves her, and she she has a fantastic working relationship with them, with her clients and with the her clients in city of Bend.

Jenny Crane, Company Person of the Year with Rich Biggs

PIA Oregon’s company person of the year is Jenny Crane of XPT Specialty.

Each year PIA members benefit from the contributions of time, money and expertise that come from our insurance company partners. In recognition of those contributions, the PIA honors one individual whose active involvement with PIA helps drive their company to support our efforts with our members.

Jenny has a tough job. Two years ago she started with herself and one other producer and now leads a team of somewhere between 14 and 16 producers in Oregon, Washington, California, Montana and Colorado.

She is just an incredible leader who knows the business of insurance inside and out and not only leads her team but also maintains her own book of business. She starts work early at 7am and rarely finishes before 6pm. And many of the clients she has in that book of business followed her from her previous employer.
