Property Crime — On the Rise in Some PIA Western Alliance CitiesValuePenguin looks at insurance problems from a number of angles. The latest is property crime. The company says — unfortunately — most insureds don’t fully understand how well they’re covered (or not covered) in the event of a crime against them.
Researchers at ValuePenguin took a look at property crime data done by the FBI earlier this year. The data compared crime in 2020 when lockdowns were the norm to crime in 2021. Rates fell by 8.1% between 2019 and 2020. Not-surprisingly, they rose 41% between 2020 and 2021.
It also looked at crime in the first quarter of 2022.
These are the crimes considered to be property crimes by the FBI (listed alphabetically):
The study also focused on individual cities. Four PIA Western Alliance cities sit in the top-12 most crime impacted cities in the U.S. Larceny and theft are the crimes seen most in those cities.
