The Certified Insurance Counselor’s (CIC) Program is designed to assist insurance professionals in learning how to manage and take charge of their futures and insurance careers.
It is the industry’s proven source for practical, real-world insurance and risk management education.
There are seven CIC institutes to choose from and a curriculum you can customize to your professional focus by combining one CRM or CPRM risk management course with the four CIC institutes of your choice.
PIA Oregon/Idaho and PIA Washington/Alaska members can access CIC education institutes via the PIA. Here are two new CIC designees from PIA Oregon/Idaho. Daniel Garcia, CIC is from The Hanover Insurance in Woodburn, Oregon and JC Riter, CIC works for Cincinnati Insurance Company and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
Garcia wrote that he has been in insurance for 18 years and started doing claims and — later — SIU investigations. “After 9 years I moved over the marketing side, which was one of the best decisions I ever made,” he noted. “Throughout the years I have met many insurance professionals and built amazing working relationships, but better yet, made long lasting friendships.”
He found earning a CIC designation to be one of the most important insurance things he’s ever done.
“Earning my CIC designation gives me tremendous satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment, since this is a highly recognized designation in the Insurance Industry,” Garcia said. “I am now part of a community and elite squad that seeks to maintain the word “Insurance Professional” at a higher standard. The designation, provides credibility through the knowledge and experience learned, and allows me to provide the best service/solution/answer possible, while speaking to agents and customers.”
Garcia has been married to his wife, Sandra for 34 years and has three children and eight grandchildren.
Riter — who grew up in the industry — is also proud to have earned his designation.
“I grew up in Portland Oregon, my father owned an independent agency in town, but I never assumed I would be in the industry while I was younger,” he said. “I went away to college and came home following a successful college golf career at University of Redlands to find myself working for Liberty Mutual. Since then I have found my career home at Cincinnati and love working with our great agents every day.”
Like Garcia, he finds earning the CIC designation to be an important career step.
“Earning the CIC designation just is another way for me to show my partners (both internal at Cincinnati and externally at agency partners or insureds) that I am committed to providing the highest level of service and value,” Riter said.
