CRM | Certified Risk Manager

The PIA Western Alliance is a proud partner with The Risk and Insurance Education Alliance to offer the Certified Risk Manager (CRM) program.

The CRM designation is built for agents, brokers, risk managers and anyone who advises clients on risk. It goes past insurance to the whole risk management process: identifying exposures, measuring them, controlling them and paying for the losses that still happen.

Earn your CRM designation by completing all five courses and passing their exams. Each course is two days (16 instructional hours) and is offered as a live webinar or in a classroom.

The five CRM courses

  • Principles of Risk Management: get the skills needed to correctly identify exposures by building a firm foundation in the fundamentals of risk management.
  • Analysis of Risk: use risk data to analyze the frequency and severity of losses, the potential for future losses, and cost-benefits of control solutions.
  • Control of Risk: gain proficiency in the application of risk control techniques, including safety, alternative dispute resolution, employment practices liability, and crisis management.
  • Financing of Risk: compare financing options such as non-insurance transfer, guaranteed cost plans, retro plans, dividend plans, pools, and captives.
  • Practice of Risk Management: gain an understanding of the daily managerial and organizational requirements of risk managers and how an organization uses the risk management process.

A CRM course can also count toward your CIC designation: combine one CRM course with four CIC institutes.
