Applied Systems 2026 Insurance Agency-Carrier Connectivity Trends survey report shows — in dramatic fashion — how independent insurance agents are placing business with companies. For the first time, the report says decisions on how business is placed surpasses product and price.
• 90% of agents are cutting back on business with carriers because of issues with submissions
• 74% say a re-keying of risk data into multiple carrier portals is a no-no
What do independent agents want from carriers?
• 79% want automation for commercial insurance from carriers
• 61% need real-time upload of AMS data
• 44% are wanting automated claims loss-run delivery
• 76% of agents say digital submissions & policy servicing experience tops commission
• 86% want easier quoting and submission from carriers
• 75% want faster binding
Agencies working mostly in commercial lines have even more problems and want solutions to them.
• 70% are troubled by a re-keying data rate of 70% verses 62% for personal-lines focused agencies
• 49% rely more on email for information
• Just 7% find dedicated submission capture software better
Allied Systems Carrier President Michael Streit said the survey’s answers are very revealing.
“This year's survey findings confirm that our technology investments are focused exactly where agents say the value lives: experiences that make working with carriers easier,: Michael Streit said. “We continue to invest heavily in removing friction for agencies and carriers alike, and more carriers are getting on board every day.”
