The real idea behind Hawaii Senate Resolution 178 and Senate Concurrent Resolution 198 is to reduce the cost of insurance for the residents of the states. It is using the 2023 Maui wildfire to “prove” the destabilized weather experience by the state has an underlying cause.

Hawaii — House Bill 1001 & the 2023 Maui Wildfire: House Bill 1001 would have the state put $807 million into the settlement fund for the victims of 2023’s Maui wildfire. It is expected to pass the House and the Senate and be signed by the governor.

The $807 million over four years will be added to the $4.04 billion settlement fund.
