Burglary — 5 PIA Western Alliance States the Most Prone for the Crime

The FBI says, overall, crime is down in the U.S. Its Q2 Uniform Crime Report was released in September and said between June of 2023 and June of 2024 crime decreased. However, if a crime is going to occur, burglary is the most likely.

Here is a list of the crime percentages from June of 2023 to June of 2024:

  • Violent crime down by 10.3%
  • Murder dropped by 22.7%
  • Rape decreased by 17.7%
  • Robbery down by 13.6%
  • Aggravated assault dropped by 8.1%
  • Property crime decreased by 13.1%

Aegis Technologies analyzed the FBI statistics and said value of items stolen in burglaries goes up during the holiday season.

“We’re at greater risk of having purses, parcels, jewelry or money snatched while out and about during the holidays,” Aegis noted. “Theft and shoplifting are also significant problems for retail businesses at this busy time of year.”

As the headline points out, five of the 10 PIA Western Alliance states are in the FBI’s 10 worst states for burglary.

Burglary rate: 604 per 100,000

2. Washington

Burglary rate: 563 per 100,000

3. Louisiana

4. Oklahoma

5. Arkansas

6. Nevada

Burglary rate: 436.1 per 100,000

7. Colorado

8. California

Burglary rate: 371.9 per 100,000

9. Delaware

10. Oregon

Burglary rate: 482.6 per 100,000
