COVID — Most Think it’s here to Stay

The survey is called the Axios-Ipsos Coronavirus Index. It says 78% of us think we’re stuck with COVID-19 forever. Or to put it another way, that 78% agree with this statement: “We will never fully be rid of the coronavirus in my lifetime.”

Big surprise, Democrats, Republicans and those saying they’re independent mostly agree on the statement.

Just 29% think the pandemic is over. And all, the 78% and the 29%, believe it’s important to protect people that are at a higher risk of developing a serious, and very dangerous case of COVID.

Another interesting note from the survey, while most think COVID is here for keeps, just 36% say they wear a mask when outside the home. That’s 14% lower than last year and the lowest rate since the start of the pandemic two years ago.
