Disaster Declarations — PIA Western Alliance State of California Leads the Pack

Close to half of the states — 24 — in the U.S. declared major disasters in every county between 2011 and 2023. That’s the conclusion of Rebuild by Design to compile the information.
- 72% of states declared 10 or more major disaster declarations
- The states with the highest disaster declarations per capita are Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, North Dakota and Vermont
Johnson County, Kentucky had the most disaster declarations in that time period with 15. Floyd and Washington Counties, Kentucky had 14 each.
By the way, the disasters between 2011 and 2023 saw the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and HUD to send out $106.4 billion in federal post-disaster assistance.
Rebuild by Design also listed the states with the most disaster declarations. The PIA Western Alliance states of California and Alaska are on the list with California topping the list:

Between 2011 and 2023 — 34 disaster declarations
2. Tennessee
Between 2011 and 2023 — 28 disaster declarations
3. Oklahoma
Between 2011 and 2023 — 27 disaster declarations
4. Mississippi
Between 2011 and 2023 — 24 disaster declarations
5. Iowa
Between 2011 and 2023 — 23 disaster declarations
6. Alaska
Between 2011 and 2023 — 21 disaster declarations
7. Kentucky, South Dakota, Vermont
Between 2011 and 2023 — 20 disaster declarations
8. Alabama
Between 2011 and 2023 — 19 disaster declarations
