We just wrapped up 2024’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration. A lot of people drink a lot on holidays like that. The National Retail Federation said 27% of us took off for a bar or a restaurant to celebrate.
Another 40% went to a local liquor store, or grocery store, or a place where alcohol is sold, or served, and picked up some special drinks for the celebration. When it comes to actual drinking, on St. Patrick’s Day the average American consumes 4.2 drinks.
A lot of people binge drink on St. Patrick’s Day. Of those admitting to binge drinking, 32% are men and 20% of women admit to binge drinking.
That’s a lot of drinking but the driver’s education resource company, Zutobi says St. Patrick’s Day isn’t the holiday where we drink the most. That holiday belongs to Thanksgiving and it’s the holiday where we see the most drunk-driving incidents.
Believe it or not, but Christmas is the holiday that sees the least drinking.
