Former PIA Oregon President Larry Hecht has Passed

The PIA Western Alliance is saddened to hear of the passing of Larry Hecht.

Unfortunately, anyone knowing Larry, and when he was part of PIA have all either retired, passed away, or left the employment of the PIA. What we know is Larry was a former president of PIA Oregon and pioneered the coalition that combined the PIA memberships of Washington and Alaska into one unit. As president of PIA Oregon, Larry helped fight through a tough financial turnaround.

Former PIA Oregon CEO Michael Jans said Larry was on board when he was hired decades ago.

“Larry was the president of the Oregon PIA when I got hired. He then became president of our Service Corp,” Jans said. “I suspect most of the agents he worked with are retired. He was a good president for the association. And most of all, Larry was a really, really good person.”

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Madeleine Church, 3123 NE 24th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97212. In honor of Dad we welcome you to wear his favorite colors green (Hecht & Hecht) or purple (University of Washington).
