Gas Prices — Rising

We’re all experiencing sticker shock at the gas pump. That’s especially true of the PIA Western Alliance states where seven are in the top-10 states in the country with the most expensive gasoline.
And the PIA Western Alliance states — California, Hawaii, Washington, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and Alaska — are numbers one through seven.
The national average is $3.58 per gallon. The PIA Western Alliance state of California is the only state in the nation where average gas prices top $5 per gallon. Gas in the Golden State is 60 cents per gallon higher than number two Hawaii — also a PIA Western Alliance state.
Here’s a look at average prices:
1. California: $5.36
2. Hawaii: $4.76
3. Washington: $4.74
4. Nevada: $4.39
5. Oregon: $4.30
6. Arizona: $4.06
7. Alaska: $3.96
8. Florida; $3.71
9. Pennsylvania: $3.66
10. Illinois: $3.66
Here’s a look at what regular gas prices averages for all of the PIA Western Alliance states were on March 11th:
Alaska: $3.95
Arizona: $4.02
California: $5.34
Hawaii: $4.69
Idaho: $3.48
Montana: $3.21
Nevada: $4.36
New Mexico: $3.47
Oregon: $4.29
Washington: $4.72
These are the least expensive states:
1. Kansas — $3.04
2. Oklahoma — $3.05
3. North Dakota — $3.09
4. Arkansas — $3.11
5. Missouri — $3.12
6. Mississippi — $3.16
7. South Dakota — $3.18
8. Kentucky — $3.19
9. Wisconsin — $3.21
10. Iowa — $3.22
The difference between prices in California and Kansas is about $2.33 per gallon.
