Hawaii Gets Hammered — Damages Top $1 Billion so Far

The rainfall has lessened and the sun is shining again in the PIA Western Alliance state of Hawaii but the heavy rains and flooding last week, and over the weekend, hit the state with over $1 billion in damages. As assessments on damages are made, that figure will likely rise.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green said residents and businesses in Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island faced serious flooding threats. People were evacuated in several areas and when the storms passed, damage was significant to homes, schools and roads.
