A lot of us travel over the holidays. Many travelers will be hitting what — to many these days — are being called the “unfriendly skies.” Much of the flight issues most of us face happens because of issues at airports.
Flight delays are often quite expensive. InsureMyTrip says a flight delay of six hours could end up costing an individual $250 for food, other transportation and other incidentals. An overnight delay often accounts for an additional $600 added to the cost of a trip.
The travel website, the Points Guy recently ranked the nation’s airlines to determine which will likely give you the best chance of getting from A to B without delay. Or if there is one, it will be a very short and easily remedied.

These are the five airlines that topped the Points Guy best list:
1. Delta
Pros: Overall reliability
Cons: Being affordable
This is the 7th straight year that Delta has topped the TPG rankings.
2. United Airlines
Pros: A great loyalty program and an international route network
Cons: Affordability and baggage
3. Southwest Airlines
Pros: Cancellations, customer satisfaction and add on fees
Con: Lack of lounges
4. Alaska Airlines
Pros: Lounges, family travel and a great loyalty program
Cons: Mishandled baggage, wheelchairs and scooters
5. Hawaiian Airlines
Pro: Timeliness
Con: Route network
