Income in the 10 PIA Western Alliance States

Published August 27, 2024 at 11:46 AM · News Releases and Bulletins

A few weeks ago, Weekly Industry News did a three-week series on income in the U.S. among age groups and states. We did the stories because the economy is going to be a huge part of the debate we’ll be inundated with until Tuesday, November 5th’s general election.

Earlier this week, we found a story on specific incomes in each state. It had comparisons for the average annual incomes of the top 5% earners, the median level of income of everyone else and the average annual income of the bottom 20%.

Here are the 10 highest income states — All scores are adjusted for COLI. The PIA Western Alliance states of Washington and California rank 5th and 11th respectively. Other than Arizona, that ranks 23rd, the rest of the PIA Western Alliance states are below the middle number of 25 states.
