PIA National

PIA National is asking for 12 minutes. The association wants your feedback to help PIA National and state affiliates understand the needs of independent agencies, their employees, and carrier partners.

The purpose is to evaluate the future of our membership structure and value proposition. All responses are confidential and reported only in aggregate.

One question asks for the percentage of business you do from personal lines, commercial lines, life and health, excess and surplus lines or niche lines.

The association wants to know the number of employees working for the company, the number of years working in the insurance business and who is in charge of the agency's PIA membership if you are a member.

The survey is asking about the biggest challenges facing independent agencies in the next three years. As an example, carrier challenges, state regulations, low compensation, or no compensation in some markets, training, competition, access to stable markets, high costs of operating, day-to-day workload, recruiting and retraining staff, cyber security risks and integrating new technology with existing systems.

PIA National wants to know your goals for the next three to five years like improving upselling and cross selling, operational efficiency, expanding through acquisition, planning for succession, improving cash flow, improving client retention, and expanding into new markets.

It wants to know the primary goals when choosing an education program and topics where more training is needed.

The survey asks for the roles important to you from the association: National advocacy, networking, technology, business operations, mental health and burnout support, staff training resources, leadership development, carrier relationship support and hiring.

What areas do you want PIA to strengthen in the future? Public awareness of agent role, advocacy, education and training, technology support, business development, market access, and more?

What do your employees most need from the PIA? Career pathways, leadership development, sales training, mental health and burnout resources, professional identity and community, mentorship and networking.

What do you rely upon for support, resources and benefits from the PIA? Which of PIA communication channels are valuable to you? How satisfied are you with opportunity to connect with other agency owners or agents via the PIA?

There are questions on how the PIA helps you and the independent agency system.

Lastly, what do you want most for networking opportunities from meetings in different markets to meeting carriers to meeting people with agencies of a similar size.

There are also questions about your relationship with the local affiliate and what you want from them.
