Something Wicked Happened with Wicked Dolls

Wicked is the Wizard of Oz prequel that was a hot Broadway musical, and in other parts of the country, and is now the second most popular movie in the U.S. Like most fantasy flicks, it comes with all kinds of dolls and other goodies that are sold to consumers to use as gifts for kids, other adults or for themselves.
Mattel — of Barbie fame — produced some Wicked dolls and sold them around the country. The company packaged the dolls with a link to the WickedMovie.com website.
Unfortunately, whether it was from a disgruntled employee, or if it was just an honest mistake (something we have trouble wrapping our heads around), the link turned out to be to a pornographic site.
Mattel pulled the dolls from shelves on November 11th when it discovered the issue, has repackaged them and they’re now back in stores with the proper link. The company has not issued an apology, nor has it issued any refunds.
A lawsuit was filed in federal court in Los Angeles by a woman in South Carolina who said her daughter was “horrified” at the images presented to her when she clicked on the link. Holly Ricketson said she and her daughter have both suffered “emotional distress” because of the images they saw on that site.
Ricketson said she wouldn’t have purchased the doll in the first place if she’d have known about the problem.
The lawsuit is seeking $5 million for each person who bought the Wicked dolls that had the porn link.
