The Economies of 10 PIA Western Alliance States — 5 in the Top 20 Best in the U.S.

The economy of California passed Japan last year and is now the fourth largest economy in the world. Only the United States, China and Germany top the Golden State.

What California isn’t is the best economy in the United States.

It’s a paradox of sorts. In terms of 28 economic indicators in economic activity, economic health and the potential for innovation, California ranks fourth in the U.S. Massachusetts tops all of the states followed by the PIA Western Alliance state of Washington at number two.

Five of the 10 PIA Western Alliance states sit in the top 20 best economies in the nation.

This is the conclusion of the consumer information website, WalletHub. Spokesman, Chip Lupo said his company’s conclusions came from information gathered from the US Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Bureau of Economic Analysis.

"A strong state economy doesn't guarantee success for the state's residents,” Lupo said. “But it certainly makes financial success more attainable.”
