AccuWeather is tracking a storm system that will likely hit huge areas of Washington, Oregon and Northern California this coming weekend. It will pack gusty winds and lightening with a little bit of rain.

Meteorologists from AccuWeather are predicting problems on the east slopes of the Oregon and Washington Cascades, the Northern Sierras and the Siskiyous.

The lightning is the biggest worry.

And since very little rain is accompanying the storm system the lightening worries on areas are huge in areas hit hard by heat and with little humidity. Add a lot of wind to all that lightning and the chance of out of control fires grows exponentially.

People are encouraged to pay close attention to weather forecasts and warnings of storms and lightning in their area. This is especially important for the very dry areas on the east side of the three mountain ranges where conditions are always very, very dry.

Close attention needs to be paid if strong winds follow the lightning.
