Ray Peretti is a good example of the importance of serving. Back in the early 2000s, Ray was an important part of uniting nine independent PIA states and forming them into the PIA Western Alliance.
He also served as president of PIA National.
When it came to volunteering to serve the association, and the independent agents of the PIA in every possible way, Ray always had time. When an independent agent needed help, Ray was there. If the leadership needed leading, Ray was there.
If someone was needed to testify on an important insurance issue before a committee of the the Washington Legislature, Ray was often the first person asked, and he never said no.
His wife, Lynn told Weekly Industry News that Ray was all about serving his country, his fellow agents and the PIA. She reminded us of one of his favorite quotes, “Volunteering is the price we pay for being here.”
Truer words have never been spoken. And with that, Kim Legato said the PIA Western Alliance is asking a few of you to step into the large shoes worn by Ray Peretti and others, agree that volunteering is the price we pay for being here, and volunteer to be a member of the board of directors of the PIA Western Alliance, or one of the 10 state chapters.
“Boards are the decision-making bodies that shape the direction and success of organizations, influencing their impact on the community,” Legato said. “The Western Alliance is in a position of great growth and we need insurance professionals form around our 10 states who will use their expertise to help guide us into a very bright future.”

The Western Alliance board of directors is represented by PIA Western Alliance members from the state level. The PIA state chapters operate within their jurisdictions focusing on local issues. All local chapters actively work to bring the best and the brightest agents into the PIA family.
The PIA Western Alliance is looking to expand representation in several states and on the Western Alliance board.
“As a board member, you will be an integral part of shaping the future of the PIA, influencing decisions that affect the entire organization, and ensuring the association remains a leader in the insurance industry,” Legato told Weekly Industry News.
