Reopening — What’s Happening in the PIA Western Alliance States

The nation is reopening. For some states it is a quick push to normalcy. In others, the route is slow and painful. Here is what is happening in the nine PIA Western Alliance states.

    * Washington, Oregon  — restrictions vary by counties and specific areas
    * California — major restrictions but they vary by area
    * Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona — Minor restrictions
    * New Mexico — Major restrictions
    * Alaska — No restrictions

Here is a more specific look at what’s happening as of Monday, June 1:

Washington — The state has moderate restrictions and they vary by county and by region. Some counties are already in phase 2. Here is what is open:

    * Outdoor recreation
    * You can dine in some restaurants in some counties with restrictions
    * Retail stores can offer curbside delivery
    * Gyms are open with restrictions in some counties
    * Personal-care services are open in some counties with restrictions

What isn’t open:

    * Bars and nightclubs
    * Movie theaters
    * Concert venues
    * Sporting venues

Oregon — There are moderate restrictions that vary by county and region. Here is what is opened in approved counties:

What is open:

    * Outdoor recreation
    * Some retail stores
    * Gyms are open with restrictions
    * Bars can open with restrictions
    * Restaurants can open with restrictions
    * Personal care businesses like salons & barbershops are open with restrictions

Not open:

    * Nightclubs
    * Movie theaters
    * Concert venues
    * Sporting venues

Montana — The Treasure State has minor restrictions on businesses and individuals. Social gatherings are now allowed to be up to 50 people.

Here’s who’s open:

    * Movie theaters
    * Gyms
    * Schools
    * Outdoor recreation
    * Places of worship
    * Dine-in restaurants
    * Bars
    * Retail stores
    * Personal care businesses like salons and barbershops

Bars and restaurants can now open to 75% capacity.

Who’s not open:
    * Concert venues
    * Sporting venues

California —There are major restrictions but they vary by region, by county and even by city.

Here’s who is open:

    * Lower-risk businesses like bookstores, florists and clothing stores
    * Most personal-care businesses like salons and barbershops

Still closed:

    * Gyms
    * Restaurants with dine-in services
    * Bars
    * Nightclubs
    * Movie theaters
    * Concert venues
    * Sporting venues
    
Idaho — There are minor restrictions.

Now open:

    * Dine-in restaurants
    * Gyms
    * Personal care businesses like salons and barbershops
    * Places of worship
    * Some retail businesses
    
Still closed but can open with restrictions. They can open at 50% capacity:

    * Bars
    * Nightclubs    
    * Movie theaters
    
Closed with no reopen in sight:

    * Concert venues    
    * Sporting venues

Alaska — No restrictions at all. Everything is open.

Arizona — There are minor restrictions in place depending on the business.

What’s open:

    * Elective surgery can be done
    * Restaurants with dine-in services can open
    * Casinos are open
    * Major league sports teams can play without fans in attendance
    * Retail stores are open
    * Personal care services like barbershops and salons

Not open:

    * Bars
    * Nightclubs

Nevada — Minor restrictions here and there.

Now open:

    * Gyms
    * Bars
    * Movie theaters
    * Outdoor recreation
    * Retail stores
    * Dine-in restaurants
    * Personal care businesses like salons and barbershops

Closed:

    * Nightclubs
    * Concert venues
    * Sporting venues

Casinos can reopen with restrictions — serious ones — on June 4th. Occupancy is cut in half and group events cannot happen.

New Mexico — One of the states in the union with the most restrictions.

Open now:

    * Outdoor recreation
    * Pet services
    * Retail stores
    * Gyms can open at 50% capacity
    * Restaurants can open at 50% capacity
    * Personal care businesses like salons and barbershops can open at 25%

Still closed:

    * Bars
